HISTORY

South Springvale FC was founded in 1968 by Greek Australians who migrated to Australia in the early 1960s. The club was initially called ‘Sandown Dynamo’ and home base was at the Springvale High School facilities. In the first twelve years, ‘Sandown Dynamo’ competed in the Victorian Amateur Leagues.

As the Club grew in popularity the need to relocate its home base became more apparent. In 1980, with the support of the City of Greater Dandenong, the Club moved its home based to Warner Reserve and took the opportunity to change its name to South Springvale Soccer Club. Through the 1980s and 1990s the Club quickly rose up through the ranks entering the Victorian Provisional Leagues in 1985, gaining promotion to the Victorian State Leagues in 1992 and reaching the Victorian State League Division 2 by the year 2000. In that period the Club successfully won three Championships, 1990, 1991 and 1995, whilst also claiming the State League Cup in 1994.

The Club also achieved national notoriety in 2014 for being the first Victorian club to qualify through to the Round of 32 of the inaugural National FFA Cup knockout competition and reaching as far as the Round of 16. In that same year the Club were runners up in the 2014 Dockerty Cup. A great achievement for a fourth tier community club.

In 2018, the Club celebrated its 50th year anniversary, a fantastic milestone of the Club. To commemorate this significant achievement a 50th year logo was designed and worn proudly by Club members and officials.
